Nigeria is truly a country of abundance. Home to over 213 million people—symbolizing natural wealth and peace. Its natural resources, people, culture, food, and arts all contribute to its beauty. We are blessed with beauty all around us with places, I love like the Yankari National Park which has waterfalls, and the Zuma Rock. Did you know that Nigeria is the largest producer of oil and gas in Africa? The Nigerian economy is growing strong and is projected to land among the world’s top 10 economies by 2050.
What about our animals? First, we have the Elephants, warthogs, lions, Buffaloes, and whales to mention but a few.
Considering what we, at times, may take for granted, reminds me just how privileged we are to live in our beautiful country and how blessed we are to have it.
When posed with the question, “What makes you proudly Nigerian?”, I am sure you will agree that every Nigerian will answer a little differently from the next. For me, it is the beautiful diversity in communities, love for God, fellowman, and country, along with all the beauty around us.
We proudly boast of pushing the boundaries of science with marvelous inventions such as the Emergency Blood Transfusion System and the Fastest Computer invented by Dr. Philip Emeagwali. All these and more originated right here from our homeland.
Mindful of our history, we can acknowledge how far we have come as a nation and continue as one of Africa’s most successful countries. We further acknowledge that there is yet much work to be done and we rejoice in what makes us who we are as a community.
Self-branded as Giant of Africa, we rejoice in a wide array of cultures, peoples, tribes, traditions, and tongues. Regardless of our struggles, the community, and tenacity of our people always come to the fore when hardships strike. Millions have not yet realized their potential, the potential to contribute to be part of the solution, to help shape a better future.
As sure as we know the sun will rise tomorrow, and there will be the next generation. The next generations should also be able to bask in the splendor that is our country; to enjoy the opportunities of freedom through a supportive, efficient, well-functioning economy, sustained by strong communities and thriving businesses.
